The toy is related to a Japanese story. Long ago, there was a raccoon dog that was caught in a trap. An old man saw that the raccoon dog was injured, so he rescued it. The raccoon dog discovered that the old man was living a poor life. Therefore, it decided to help him.
The raccoon dog visited
the old man and suggested that it sell itself to make money and improve his
life. Then, the raccoon dog transformed itself into a kettle, and the old man
sold the kettle to a monk. That night, the monk wanted to boil some water, so
he used the kettle. However, the raccoon dog could not stand the high
temperature. Suddenly, its head and feet grew out of the kettle, and it ran
away.
There is another version of the story in which the raccoon dog performed in public and earned a lot of money to improve the old man's life. No matter which version is true, it is a story about repaying kindness and returning a favor.
